The following is a condensed list of reports made to Taos Central Dispatch within the town of Taos from Aug. 16-20.

Aug. 16

4:32 p.m. Harassment, Holy Cross Medical Center — Caller said he had been waiting for three hours to be tested for rabies. When police arrived, hospital staff informed officers that the man had only just arrived and had not been waiting for three hours, ignored advice from hospital employees and attempted to start a fight with staff members.

6:08 p.m. Loitering, Smith’s — Caller said a shirtless man was refusing to leave the premises. Police arrived, and the man had a shirt on. No report was filed.

8:27 p.m. Reckless Driver, Allsup's Northside — Caller said people on “crotch rockets” were being too loud and endangering peoples’ lives. He told police he moved to Taos because it’s quiet.

8:35 p.m. Shoplifting, Tractor Supply Co. — Caller said a woman was putting welding equipment in her purse.

Aug. 17

10:16 a.m. Criminal Damage, Jalapeños — Caller said there was a bullet hole in one of the restaurant’s windows.

11:16 a.m. Welfare Check, Taos Youth and Family Center — Caller said there was a man slumped over in his car. Police arrived and found the man asleep. He said he had a long week at work and needed rest.

12:12 p.m. Harassment, Sunset Street — Caller said her cousin was armed outside of her residence with intent to kill her. Police arrived, found no cousin and determined the caller had been “high on narcotics.”

Aug. 18

8:06 a.m. Criminal Damage, NM 75 — Caller said their tires had been slashed.

12:49 p.m. Adult Narcotics Offense, Kit Carson Park — Caller said a group of “anglo hippies” was smoking weed. Police arrived and found they were not smoking marijuana.

5:45 p.m. Civil Complaint, Carabajal Road — Caller said Rio Grande Motor Sports “owes” him an oil filter because they sold him the wrong part four months ago.

7:56 p.m. Welfare Check, Juan I. Gonzales Agricultural Center — Caller said a car with multiple small children on the roof was driving down the street.

Aug. 19

9:39 p.m. Reckless Driver, Soldados — Caller said there was a group of young kids racing cars. Police told them not to return or there would be “consequences.”

Aug. 20

12:23 p.m. Welfare Check, Taos Youth and Family Center — Caller said a man was passed out drunk on the sidewalk. Police moved him into the shade.

1:03 p.m. Welfare Check, Taos Visitor Center — Caller said a woman with a stroller threatened to slit their throat.

5:47 p.m. Welfare Check, Paseo del Pueblo Sur — Caller said a man was “telling off” his son, who was covering his ears.

6:32 p.m. Assault, Albertsons — Caller said a woman was intoxicated in the store and was throwing items at employees. Police arrived and trespassed her.
